In the Mediterranean diet (which is becoming less popular in Spain), fruit and vegetable consumption is central. I consume more fruits than vegetables, and even though I do not follow a strict Mediterranean diet, both occupy a prominent place in my eating habits.

According to the conclusion of this study that has followed very closely the nutritional habits of 206 adults who followed a Mediterranean diet, prolonged consumption of fruits and vegetables contributes positively to reduce the risk of increasing body weight of our long and medium term ( about ten years).

While the benefits of fruits and vegetables are more of itself, it is worth continuing with reference to the importance of these foods, even more so when they could have a positive effect on obesity levels of our body.
