Combined Chemotherapy
Combined chemotherapy is the use of more than an antibacterial agent in the treatment of infectious disease. These combinations are used in order to prevent or delay the onset of resistance, increase the breadth of coverage in polymicrobial infections, looking for the additive effect and trying to reduce toxicity.
A classic example of this therapy is the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis, which included four drugs: isoniazid, rifampicin, streptomycin and pyrazinamide.
However, the combination of antibiotics has several problems. Read the rest of this entry »

Principles of Antibiotic Treatment
Whenever possible, obtain samples of infected material for microscopic analysis and culture. This is a golden rule, which can not be stressed enough. The exhibition displays the germs that cause and their susceptibility and resistance to various antibiotics.
Identified the germ and its susceptibility to antibacterial agents, choose the system with narrower antibacterial spectrum. Read the rest of this entry »
The Antibiotics -part 2-
A germ can develop resistance to an antibiotic. This means you will be unable to harm the germ. Resistance can develop by mutation of genes residing or acquisition of new genes:
Inactivation of the compound
Activation or overproduction of the target bacterial
Decreased cell permeability agent
Active removal of the compound inside the cell
The resistance of germs to antibiotics is now one of the greatest challenges to health authorities. Is a frequent occurrence, often caused by improper medical action in selecting the appropriate antibiotic, influenced by the availability of it and sometimes by the patient’s decision. In hospitals have committees to design and enforce an appropriate antibiotic policy. Read the rest of this entry »
The Antibiotics -part 1-

Infectious diseases killed millions of human beings throughout history. With the discovery of antibiotics, this reality began to be modified and, in the eighties of the twentieth century, could speak of an almost total victory against infection by microorganisms. This victory, which some called pax antibiotic, mimicking the famous Pax Romana of the times of the empire of the Caesars, was destroyed by the devastating spread of a new disease, which defied the contemporary medical knowledge, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, we now know for its four letters of its acronym: AIDS.
Currently, infectious diseases show an emerging trend, so that knowledge of antibiotics, who prefers to call today as antibacterial drugs, it is extremely important for those interested in health issues. Read the rest of this entry »

Lactulose is a synthetic carbohydrate prebiotic composed of natural sugars fructose and galactose.
Lactulose is the ideal nutrient for microorganisms beneficial to health, ie bifidobacteria and lactobacilli, and serves to stabilize and recover our physiological intestinal flora.
In nature, prebiotics found in vegetables such as garlic, asparagus or onions, and also in foods like yogurt and milk.
What is the role of lactulose?
In addition to exercising a prebiotic effect, ie to stabilize the physiological intestinal flora, lactulose is also indicated to treat constipation (medical term: obstipation). Before being absorbed by the intestinal bacteria, lactulose exerts an osmotic effect: introducing water into the intestinal lumen and thus increases the volume of stool. In turn, this stimulates the muscles of the intestine and promotes bowel movements. Read the rest of this entry »

What is the human intestinal flora?
The intestine of an adult contains approximately 1014 bacteria, divided into more than 400 species and subspecies than reaching a weight of 1 to 1.5 kg.
Bacteria, being unicellular organisms, have the ability to run by themselves all the vital metabolism, so that the intestinal flora can be considered as a large and complex body metabolising body. Therefore, this “body” influences on our health and wellbeing. Read the rest of this entry »
