More effective drugs and herbal products

Korean researchers were very optimistic about the possibility that acupuncture is effective in relieving menstrual pain. As stated in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, acupuncture “may even be more effective than medications or herbal remedies.” This is because this treatment “stimulates production of endorphins and serotonin in the central nervous system.”

Both hormones are important factors for welfare. Endorphins are produced during exercise, and their segregation causes a feeling of wellbeing. Serotonin, on the other hand, a brain neurotransmitter, to get an idea, its lack is associated with symptoms of depression, anxiety, anguish and sadness.

Despite the optimism of the South Korean researchers, experts have found errors in the methodology, so call for more research and further to check the results.

Around 10% of women are forced to stay home and not go to work one day because of pain caused by menstruation. Typically, these pains are usually relieved by applying pain in the lower abdomen, exercising or taking painkillers.
